Frequently asked questions
What is URL encoding?
URLs may only contain a limited set of characters. Other characters, such as spaces and é, are written as % followed by a code. A space becomes %20.
When should I tick 'whole URL'?
Tick it when you paste a complete address. Leave it off when you encode one value that goes inside a URL, such as a search term.
Why does a + stay a + when I decode?
A + only means a space in form data. In normal URL encoding a space is %20, so this tool leaves + alone.
